Newborn Screening Recommendations for Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD): Implications for State Programs
In October 2010, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Secretary's Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children (SACHDNC) recommended the addition of Critical Congenital Cyanotic Heart Disease (CCCHD) to the Committee's Recommended Uniform Screening Panel (RUSP). In September 2011, DHHS Secretary Sebelius adopted the SACHDNC recommendation to add Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) to the RUSP.
This webinar focused on the background of the point-of-care CCHD screening recommendations and potential roles of state health departments. Presentations included considerations for roles of state health departments with CCHD screening, an overview of state activities, and lessons learned from New Jersey’s experience with implementing mandated screening.

Roles for State Title V Programs in Building Systems of Care for Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders
AMCHP hosted a webcast on February 1, 2012 titled, "Roles for State Title V Programs in Building Systems of Care for Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders." The issue brief outlines a range of roles for Title V as leader, partner and facilitator; provides state resources and examples to share with policy makers in leadership, outreach and awareness, and family participation; highlights ongoing challenges in data and financing, as well as opportunities for collaborative approaches; and provides opportunities for peer-to-peer technical assistance.
The purpose of the webcast was to help states, primarily Title V programs, determine appropriate roles and approaches to building systems of care for children and youth with ASD/DD. The presenters provided examples from state programs to demonstrate the depth of involvement from state Title V programs and their partners.
